Today, nostril piercing is one of the most popular types of nose piercing either on the left or right nostril with the septum piercing becoming more fashionable as more jewellery becomes available and the piercing gains acceptability. The septum itself is the cartilaginous dividing wall, inside the nose between the nostrils. The cartilage itself is not pierced but rather a very specific known as the ‘sweet spot’ which is an area of skin between the edge of the cartilage and the end of the nose.

Several types of jewellery can be worn in a septum piercings including BCR’s (Ball Closure Rings), Horseshoes (Circular Barbells), Hinged Segment Rings and Open Nose Rings. Horseshoes or BCR’s are the best option for those who like to stretch a septum piercing.
